Snowmobile Sound Check The Yampa River State Park will be conducting voluntary decibel level testing on snowmobiles around northern Colorado for the remainder of the season (2008-2009). The reason for this is that a year and a half from now a new law will take effect that will require snowmobiles to emit noise no higher than 88 decibels. The test is easy to administer and takes very little time. The decibel reading is taken on a stationary snowmobile at 4,000 rpms from a distance of 157.5 inches away. |
